Today I started my pre-writing for my proposal. Over this past weekend I went to the library and got some books about serial killers. I started looking at the one book I got, "Tracking Serial Killers." I only read about 20 pages so far and it has a lot of information that I can use for my project. I also found a few keyterms that I can put on my blog that are good to know. Tonight if i have time I would like to read some more of the book to get more information. I would like to finish this book by the end of this weekend so that I can start on another book that I got.

Key Terms

Signatures – is a part of his fantasy, a personal gesture that he feels compelled to leave in other to be satisfied
Linkage Blindness – Several similar homicides have occurred, police might deny that they are connected. They might refuse to check and see if there are related murders in other jurisdictions.
Modus Operandi (MO) - reflects what the killer had to do to commit the crime
Signatures - is a ritual something the subject does intentionally for emotional satisfaction - something that isn't necessary to perpetuate the crime

Serial Killer – a person who murders usually three or more people over a period of more than 30 days with a “cooling off” period between each murder
