Today I got a couple of key terms that I defined. Also I have writen some foundation questions that I have.

3. What are somethings that forensic scientist might miss on a crime scene?
4. What are somethings you might see on a crime scene?
5. How many serial killers are alive today?
6. Why do people become serial killers?
7. How do you catch a serial killer?
These are the questions that I have came up with so far.

Key Terms
- Signatures – is a part of his fantasy, a personal gesture that he feels compelled to leave in other to be satisfied
- Linkage Blindness – Several similar homicides have occurred, police might deny that they are connected. They might refuse to check and see if there are related murders in other jurisdictions.
- Modus Operandi (MO) - reflects what the killer had to do to commit the crime
- Signatures - is a ritual something the subject does intentionally for emotional satisfaction - something that isn't necessary to perpetuate the crime
- ViCAP - Violent Criminal Apprehension Program
- Necrophilia – sexual desire for dead bodies: sexual feelings for or sexual acts with dead bodies
- Cold Case – refers to a crime or accident that has not been solved and is not the subject of current criminal investigation or civil litigation, but for which new information could emerge from new witness testimony or re-examined archives, as well as retained material evidence
- Homicide – refers to the act of killing another human being
- Jane Doe – is used as a placeholder name for a female party, in a legal action, case or discussion, whose true identity is either unknown or must be withheld for legal reasons. The name is also used to refer to a male corpse or hospital patient whose identity is unknown
- John Doe – is used as a placeholder name for a male party, in a legal action, case or discussion, whose true identity is either unknown or must be withheld for legal reasons. The name is also used to refer to a male corpse or hospital patient whose identity is unknown
- Evidence – something that gives a sign of proof of the existence o truth of something, or that helps somebody to come to a particular conclusion
- Investigation – an examination or inquiry into something, especially a detailed one that is undertaken officially, or the act of undertaking an examination
- Forensic Scientist – investigate crimes by collecting crime scene evidence and using the natural sciences to analyze the data they recover
- Crime Scene – a location where an illegal act took place, and comprises the area from which most of the physical evidence is retrieved by trained law enforcement personnel, crime scene investigators or in rare circumstances, forensic scientist
- Serial Killer – a person who murders usually three or more people over a period of more than 30 days with a “cooling off” period between each murder
